Applied Kinesiology

In the 1960's, a chiropractor developed a system of evaluation of normal and/or abnormal body function using muscle testing known as Applied Kinesiology ("A.K."). Since the original discovery of Applied Kinesiology, the principle has broadened to include evaluation of the nervous, vascular, and lymphatic systems, nutrition, acupuncture and cerebrospinal fluid function. Muscle tests are applied to different areas of the body in a manner that evaluates a specific muscle. A "weakness" indicates not only poor muscle function, but also possible trouble with the organ and/or other tissue on the same nerve, vascular and nutritional grouping.

About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a science, a philosophy and an art. The science of chiropractic deals with the vital relationship of the spinal column to the nervous system and the dynamic role of this relationship in acquiring and maintaining "health." Although chiropractic only celebrated its 100th birthday in 1995, the philosophy on which it is based can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and to the teachings of Hippocrates. The art of chiropractic is the specific spinal manipulation that allows the flow of nerve impulses from the brain and spinal cord (via the spinal column/vertebrae) to every cell in the body, thereby achieving and maintaining proper function of these cells and ultimately resulting in muscle balance, physiologic harmony, and improved vitality.
